If you would like a personal reading, there are a few things to consider. People expect different things from a reading and it is always a good idea to know what a psychic can or can't do for you. Read the article below to familiarise yourself with what you can expect before you have a reading.
Divination Advice
Everyone can do it, IMNSHO! We are all intuitive, but some of us ignore the promptings we receive from that little voice inside ourselves and look only at the rational and obvious. As long as you have a little common sense that works alongside your intuition, you can usefully use various divination techniques to determine how things MAY progress for you.
This is important: divination is meant to be a help and not a hindrance. No-one should ever take the word of a psychic as gospel, not matter how accurate they have proved themselves to be in the past. They are human and fallible. Use common sense and allow anything that you pick up, or others pick up, as helpful advice ... but still use your common sense and make your own decisions!
Professional Readings
There is no 'authority' that can confirm a psychic is genuine, despite the groups that offer some kind of certification. They can check, as far as they are able, that a psychic is decent, has some skill and knows how to treat people. They cannot confirm someone is psychic. Contrary to popular belief, telephone psychics DO have to give sample readings before they are allowed to work. A nice voice is NOT enough. No, they DO NOT read from a script, nor do they work in a call centre.
Regulations for telephone psychics are strict. All telephone psychics are regulated and, for this reason, are obliged to work under the description of "for entertainment only". We don't have to like it ...
In my TV work, I am not allowed to give any advice on health, pregnancy, finance or legal matters. Check with your psychic first of all, that they are allowed to look at your situation before you proceed with the call.
Can you talk to the dead?
Those psychics who allege that they can are called 'Mediums'. If you want this type of reading, you should ask your reader if they are a medium. There are various different methods that a medium can employ to connect with those who've passed on. Despite the fact that I am not a clairvoyant medium, I would recommend that first-timers contact a clairvoyant medium before they have a reading with another type of medium. Yes, I'm suggesting you don't come to me for this - the regulations on mediumship via phone calls are now so strict that because of my lack of imagery, I cannot offer you very much for your money in this area.
Clairvoyant mediums can 'see' spirit and so can give you very, very personal information about the person they can connect with (although new regulations mean that via premium rate phone calls, they are not allowed to tell you who they believe they connect with). What they can tell you should help reassure first-timers that there is really something special going on. I am a Clairsentient medium, which means that I do not 'see' - and therefore cannot give physical descriptions. Funnily enough, I do 'see' in haunted houses, but not in 1-2-1 calls! Go figure! You should also take on board that mediums cannot just call any spirit forward, despite what you see on TV. They can only ask and see who comes. If you want to connect with a certain family member, be aware that you should think twice about any medium who guarantees they will be able to pick them up.
Tell me the Lottery Numbers?
No. Absolutely not! No psychic knows the lottery numbers and you will not find divination a useful technique if this is all you want to use it for. If you try to use divination for gambling, you will be put off ever doing it again - it simply will not work for you, even if you try to double-bluff it. Take it from those who know - or try it and be sorely disappointed - if you must. If psychics had some hotline to determining how the balls will roll, they would probably be giving you their advice from a beach in the Bahamas, or may simply have decided not to work at all. Don't be mistaken, most psychics are there to help and would continue to do so, but they are human too!
Is it Evil?
If the thought has even entered your head, why are you still reading? Although many faiths seem to think that only God can determine the future and that even trying is evil, the chances are they have not looked at the reasons for wanting to divine. Yes, I believe that God and Goddess are fully aware of all the potential for the future. I also believe that we can only get a slight handle on it. There is no real proof one way or the other that time is linear, or even exists*, so 'the future' is debatable. However, I cannot see how something can be evil if it genuinely helps people.
Where do you get psychic information from?
There are several schools of thought. Some say it is your own intuition and connection with the divine. Some say it's from Spirit and those who've passed on, including your Spirit Guides. Some say it's from the Devil. The latter we've covered and, as a witch, I'm not a believer in Satan anyway. As for the former two, take your pick. I think it's a bit of both. My Spirit Guide (Mackay - a Single Malt Whisky drinking Scot) says that "you should intuitively know the answer" ... and that sort of response is typical of him and his humour!
If you have a gift, why do you charge money?
Do you work for a living? Do you need to pay bills and eat? The chances are you've said yes to both and, the chances are that you will do your very best to be in a job you love, and that you are good at. It's no different for me. Oh, sure, I could spend all my time giving readings for free (which are unbelievably draining) and then not have the time, or the energy, to do a job which actually keeps me in food and clothes. If you have a talent and you use it to earn money to live, you are no different than I am, and in my opinion, your gift is as much God or Goddess given as mine is. Even vicars are paid, and they, like I, (and probably like you), will offer some of their talent for free, but not need to shout about when they do, who or why.
And free readings ... no, we are not mean when we don't want to read for free. It's amazing how many friends you suddenly get if you can read, and how many actually disappear if you ever need any help. Those who really need help will get it. Those who say "oh, you read, well you'll just *have* to give me a reading!" wouldn't dream of saying "oh, you're a plumber, you'll just *have* to fix my tap!". However, it's the same principle. It's my living, I work when I work and I *choose* if I want to work for free in my spare time. It's not fun for me, it's serious.
Does it work?
My clients seem to think so and I have had a lot of help via readings. All I can say is - the proof of the pudding is in the eating ... so use some common sense ... but try it and see!
