Christmas Day (00:00 - December 25th, 2012)
Celebrated by Christians the world over, this festival marks the birth of Jesus Christ in a stable. His birth was announced by a new star in the sky and he was found and worshipped by three wise men (thought to be astrologers!) who carried gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh - all symbols of sovereignty.
Because there are so many similar festivals throughout the ages celebrating the birth of the Sun/Son, it is no surprise to find that the traditions surrounding Christmas Day vary. Many put up evergreen decorations (to show that Winter never has a complete hold and the sun is returning) and light candles (the return of the sun), despite the fact that these are very pagan traditions! Father Christmas may be expected (are his reindeer a reminder of the God, with his antler horns?) and a Yule Log may be burnt (needless to say, a Pagan tradition ... the clue is in the name!).
However, whether you celebrate Christmas, Yule or any other variation thereof - or whether you await the Sun, the Son or both ... all of us at Warty's World wish you a really good day and pray for Peace to ALL men AND women!
