Sol Invictus (00:00 - December 25th, 2012)
Sol Invictus (or, more accurately, Deus Sol Invictus) was a title applied to several Roman divinities including Mithras and Sol. It means "the undefeated sun". This festival celebrates the birth of the unconqured sun and is celebrated just after the Winter Solstice, as the sun begins to regain strength. It ran from December 22nd to December 25 and, needless to say, has parallels with Christmas.
