A well known festival to the Roman God of general hedonism and debauchery, Bacchus. Although a lover of wine and the fine things in life, Bacchus was also known as a little mad, and his festivals were originally held in secret and attended by women only (no surprise there, then?). Later, men were admitted to the rites.

Be aware that if you raise a glass to Bacchus today, you may find it difficult to stop at one!
